How does It work?
Cetirizine present in the Rigix tablet selectively blocks the peripheral histamine H1-receptor.
Due to its blocking of histamine H1 receptors, Cetirizine effectively reverses many of the effects of histamine. Like second-generation antihistamines, Cetirizine decreases vascular permeability, reducing the amount of fluid that escapes from the capillaries into tissues. Cetirizine also prevents histamine-induced bronchospasm.
Cetirizine has been shown to have significant inflammatory activity, reducing inflammatory cells’ infiltration in allergic rhinitis. In particular, research has shown that this medicine reduces the transfer of neutrophils and eosinophils.
Can you drink while on Cetirizine (Rigix)?
Cetirizine and alcohol can both cause drowsiness and sleepiness. These side effects may worsen if you take both at the same time. If possible, try to avoid or lower alcohol consumption while taking Cetirizine.
